MEMBERS OF THE URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM -
INCIDENT SUPPORT TEAM
DEPLOYED TO THE WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES IN SALT LAKE CITY

February 7, 2002

The Governor's Office of Emergency Services, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have deployed the following individuals from the Urban Search and Rescue Team - Incident Support Team to Salt Lake City, Utah and the Winter Olympics.

Metro Fire
· Fire Chief Rick Martinez
· Battalion Chief Geoff Miller
· Captain Hank Linscott
Sacramento Fire Department
· Assistant Chief Ed Vasques
Kaiser Permanente
· Doctor Hernando Garzon

Those deployed will be involved as management team members to serve as a precaution due to the events of September 11, 2001 and the continued threat of terrorism. Fire Chief Rick Martinez and the other members were also deployed to New York City on September 11, 2001.

Fire Chief Rick Martinez will be departing Sacramento International Airport on Friday, February 8, 2002 from Terminal A. Fire Chief Rick Martinez will be available for interviews in the lobby of Terminal A on Friday, February 8, 2002 at 8:30 A.M. Media, please arrive by 8:30 A.M., the Chief will briefly speak before departing at 9:00 A.M.
