Early Morning Fire Damages Foothill Farms Business Complex


April 11,2001 5:14 am Metro Firefighters responded to a report of a commercial building on fire at 5330 Auburn Blvd, Foothill Farms Sacramento County.

Metro Engine 24 arrived and reported a commercial strip mall with a working fire in the middle of the complex. A second alarm was sounded bring additional Firefighters to the scene. The Fire spread to two other businesses adjacent to the business of origin.

The Fire was brought under control 20 minutes after the first arriving unit. The fire started in a computer repair shop and caused total destruction to the contents to that business. The adjacent business that was a TV repair store and a tax preparation service also sustained damage. The Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to other business in the complex.

Arson Investigators determined the fire to be suspicious in nature and sent chemical samples of the area of origin to a lab for analyses. The results should take up to a week. The building structure loss is estimated at $200,000 and contents loss estimated at $200,000.

No injuries to Firefighters or public occurred.
