Just before 12:30 PM Metro Fire responded to a report of a roof fire on 11725 Melones Circle in the Community of Gold River. Firefighters reported a heavy column of smoke from the Gold River Fire station.

Metro Engine 65 arrived a reported a well involved structure. A second alarm was sounded that brought additional firefighters to the scene to control the fire. Houses adjacent were threatened for a period of time.

The home suffered a total loss of structure and contents. Fire Investigators found sparklers and had reports of bottle rockets being shot into the air just prior to the fire being reported. The sparkers were found on the roof of the damaged home.

The family arrived home from a shopping trip to find the house still smoldering from the fast moving fire. Fire investigators are still looking into whether the fire was started by sparklers of a fallen bottle rocket.
