Just Before 2:30 A.M. Firefighters responded to a report of a field fire with structures involved in the Silver Legends housing development. When Firefighters arrived several homes in the framing stages of construction were on fire. Battalion 10 from Elk Grove Fire Department assumed command and immediately called for three additional alarms. Firefighters had to deal with high winds and water pressure issues while battling the fast moving fire.

Firefighters had several homes that had to be evacuated. Sacramento County Sheriffs Department assisted in evacuation of the occupants. The fire spread to 14 homes in various stages of construction. Before the fire was extinguished a total of 14 structures were either destroyed or damaged causing close to three million dollars in damage.

Fire investigators found multiple sets at the scene leading them to believe this fire was intentionally set. In addition a contractor from an adjacent project approached fire investigators indicating he had an attempt on his project a short distance away. Arson Investigators are looking for any information on who is responsible for this fire. A toll free Arson Tip Hot Line has been established. 1-888-322-7766.

Firefighters from Elk Grove Fire Department, Sacramento Fire Department, Wilton Fire District and Metro Fire worked together to control this fire and ultimately keeping the fire from destroying several occupied homes.
