Two Alarm Fire Damages Upholstery Shop

Just before 7:00 P.M tonight Metro Firefighters responded to 2627 El
Camino Ave in the community of Arcade for a report of a commercial
structure fire. Engine 101 arrived and reported a working fire in the Sure
Fit Upholstery shop.
A second alarm was sounded bringing a total of 27 firefighters to the
scene. The building was approximately 10,000 square feet and fire had a
Big O tire store adjacent, separated by a firewall. Firefighters were able
to keep the fire out of the tire store. The upholstery shop sustained
severe damage. Firefighters had to saw holes in the roll up doors just to
gain access to the fire area. The fire damaged the shop area as well as
part of the store.
The fire was brought under control in less than one hour. Fire
investigators are on the scene attempting to determine a cause. The
preliminary loss is estimated at $650,000 with contents and structural
damage. Firefighters will remain on the scene for several hours moping up
hot spots. The Sacramento Fire Department provided assistance on the
second alarm.
