Sacramento Area Fire Agencies Deploy 15 Engines to Placer County

Yesterday afternoon a wind driven wildfire broke out in the Urban
Interface area of Placer County. The fire quickly spread and destroyed
several structures.

Placer County placed a request for assistance from Sacramento County. The
first strike team deployed involved five engines and Battalion Chief from
Metro Fire. The strike was deployed to protect the structures that were
threatened.

The second strike was requested a short time later. Fire agencies
including Elk Grove Fire, Sacramento Fire, West Sacramento and Folsom Fire
department responded to assist in the Wild land firefight. Early this
morning the Governors Office of Emergency Services (OES) dispatched a strike
team to Placer. The above agencies staffed the engines and have been
deployed.

A total of 15 firefighting units have responded to assist our neighbors
in Placer County. Today is expected to be similar in weather conditions.
All of the firefighters that have been dispatched to the Placer have been
backfilled with anticipation for another busy Day!

Please advise the public to use caution and to take into consideration the
extreme fire conditions we are currently in.
