3:19 A.M. Metro Engine 50 and BC9 responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding at the Immaculate Temple Church located at 7276 French road in the community of Florin, Sacramento County.

Engine 50 arrived and reported a working fire with flames through the roof of the 10,000 sq-foot structure. Two additional alarms were sounded bringing 60 Firefighters to the scene to battle the blaze.  Firefighters from Metro Fire and Sacramento Fire Department battled the blaze for close to an hour and half.

The fire was in the attic area of the sanctuary.  Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to a 50X50 area.  The sprinkler system activated, however the fire had already worked its way through the attic area before the sprinklers could extinguish the fire.

Fire investigators investigated the fire and determined that the preliminary cause is most likely a faulty electrical component in the attic area. No indications of foul play were suspected.

Estimated loss is $1,000,000 dollars to the structure and contents.  The members of the Church were grateful that no Firefighters were injured while batting the blaze. The Pastor plans to hold Sunday Services as scheduled.
