Just Before 6:00A.M. Metro Fire responded to 7904 Zenith Drive in the City
of Citrus Heights for a report of a commercial structure fire. Metro Engine
25 arrived and reported an office complex well involved with fire.
Firefighters searched the building confirming no one was inside the
structure. The fire quickly spread consuming the entire attic portion of
the building. Firefighters anticipated a collapse and backed out of the
building prior to portions of the roof and mansard crashing to the ground.
It took just over two hours to contain the fire, with no damage to adjacent
buildings that included a Veterinary Hospital and a United States Post
Office.
Fire Investigators with the assistance of ATF entered the building and
determined that the preliminary cause of the fire is suspicious in nature.
ATF called in an Arson Dog to assist in locating possible accelerants. In
addition samples have been sent to ATF Laboratories for further analysis.
The Summer Hills Family Dentist Office occupied half of the complex. The
Dental office sustained heavy damage. The other half of the building was
unoccupied. Fire Investigators will continue the on scene investigation
through out the remainder of the day.
Estimated loss was set at 1.5 Million Dollars for the structure and 500,000
dollars for the contents of the Dental Office.
