Schedule
The District solicited proposals from design firms and environmental
service firms in April of 2003 to assist the District with the planning,
design, public involvement, regulatory, and permit phases of the Program.
The District selection committee evaluated the proposals and the Board of
Directors in June of 2003 approved the award of a contract for design
services of the proposed eight new fire stations to Madsen, Flathmann,
Dameron, and Babcock Architects, Inc., a renowned local design firm with
extensive fire station design and construction experience. In June of 2003
the Board also approved the award of a contract to Locus Technologies of
Sacramento to provide environmental consultant services on an as needed
basis for real property acquisition assessments, California Environmental
Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, and other related services. In September of
2003, the board approved the retention of Vanir Construction Management,
INC. to assist with construction quality control and inspection services.
The District, in consultation with its consultants, has developed a
tentative schedule for the delivery of the eight new fire stations. Many
factors could affect the schedule including the time required to: acquire
real property; obtain required permits; provide appropriate public comment
and participation opportunities; and other factors.
Outlined below is a typical project schedule for each of the proposed new
fire stations following District purchase of the new fire station sites:
Schematic Design 2 months
Construction Documents, Public Review/Comment, 10 months
And Permits
Construction Bidding 2 months
Construction 13 months
Total time required per each station = 27 months
